Rhayader and District Community Support provides a range of services that directly benefit the people who live here:
• An accessible minibus, car and volunteer drivers help people get to vital health and other appointments
• A telecentre, helping people keep in touch
• Volunteers who befriend, shop for or help people in other ways
• A social club for people who are 50 or over
• The Community Nursery Project
• A Well Being Club, open to anybody interested in healthy living
Transport Scheme
We manage the Voluntary Community Car Scheme providing transport for clients mainly for health-related appointments and the Community Mini Bus providing transport for socially related journeys for all Rhayader & District residents who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to use existing means of transport.
Information Technology Centre
We manage Rhayader Telecentre which currently houses eight computers, with printing facilities. We offer inexpensive access to these resources with high-speed broadband internet connection, e-mail, desktop publishing, web design and word processing software. We run two classes ‘Computers don’t bite’ which teach basic computer skills to local residents. Plus two well supported interactive kids clubs on a Friday & Tuesday evening.
Well-being Club
The club is primarily to encourage healthy lifestyles which will encompass three things, a well balanced diet increased activety good companionship and friendships. Everybody is welcome
Meeting Room/Video Conferencing Centre
The Arches has newly refurbished inexpensive and convenient meeting room available for hire. The room comfortably seats up to 20 boardroon style & 30 theatre. We offer a range of hot or cold buffet lunches, and teas/coffees and biscuits. The meeting room houses an international video conferencing link with ISDN & Internet connection.
